The relocation of the Northville-Placid Trailhead start/end point to Northville's Waterfront Park also features a new sign in booth for hikers. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has been hard at work on the new structure. In addition to signing in, trail information will also be posted.
After much preparation, the date was set to erect the archway June 2nd. Many volunteers donated their time and quite an audience gathered around to see the structure getting raised into place.
While the last stubborn snowbanks finally disappeared and the days slowly got warmer, the Northville Merchants Association was busy preparing for a very special event.
June 7th and 8th will be a day to remember in Northville's Waterfront Park. The Adirondack Mountain Club, American Hiking Society, and Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Northville-Placid Trail. Among plenty of other exciting events, the festival will feature a ceremonial presentation of the new archway spanning the entrance to the park. The towering cedar logs will serve as the official starting point of the 133 mile Northville-Placid Trail. Check back soon for more information on events, activities, and archway progress!
